Russian hypermarket chain Lenta has announced the preliminary negotiations with the Finnish retailer Kesko on the acquisition of Russian business of the company. The second largest retailer in Finland owns 11 hypermarkets “K-Ruoka” in St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region. Reportedly, the two sides have not yet reached an agreement on a potential deal or its terms.
Kesko also confirmed the fact of negotiations. “At the moment it is unclear how they will. If the negotiations lead to the signing of the agreement, this will be announced separately”,— stated in the message of the company. In may 2016, the Finnish retailer said the possibility of selling the business in Russia. In August, Kesko sold the chain of shops “Intersport”. The amount of the transaction amounted to approximately 100 million rubles.
