Russia decided to join the Asian Bank for infrastructure investment (AIIB) created on the initiative of China. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. “I would like to inform about the decision made by President of Russia (Vladimir Putin) to participate in the bank’s capital infrastructure investments,” – Shuvalov said on the Asian Economic Forum, held in the Chinese province of Hainan.


Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was founded in 2014, its goal – to finance infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR). The first memorandum on this project was signed in October 2014 in Beijing. List of the co-founders of the bank is to be published on 31 March.

The agreement on the basis of the bank, which will be operational by the end of 2015, have already joined 27 countries, 20 of which – the state the APR. In March, members of AIIB decided to become a number of European countries, including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Luxembourg.
 

The share capital AIIB should reach $ 100 billion, the initial share capital – 50 billion dollars. The company’s headquarters will be located in Beijing.
 

Earlier it was suggested that AIIB will compete with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which is dominated by the US and Japan. At the same time, the head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde stressed that the fund has a space for cooperation with China, created by the bank. lenta.ru
