during his visit to Turkey, President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow decided to allow the Russian market of agricultural goods from Turkey.
“I would Like to draw attention to the fact that today the government of the Russian Federation took the decision to allow the Russian market a whole group of Turkish goods,” TASS quoted Putin’s words during a press conference following talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Putin explained that this is a mutually beneficial decision, and clarified that we are talking about agricultural commodities — the so-called stone fruit and citrus. “Russian agriculture does not produce such products, and the entry of Turkish may lead — we hope — to the lower prices for these products,” he explained. In the opinion of the President of the Russian Federation, “for Turkish partners is, of course, the opening of the Russian market.” Putin recalled that “sales of these Turkish products on the Russian market last year amounted to $ 500 million.”
“This is a significant decision”, — concluded the President.
