In the North sea on the Clair platform, owned by BP, there was a spill of 95 tonnes of oil. Cause of spill was a technical failure of the system that controls the separation of the mixed production fluid comprising water, oil and gas. This is stated in the message of the company.
the Spill was stopped within hours after a problem is detected, after which the work platform was stopped. Pending investigation of the causes of a technical failure of the work platform will not be renewed, the report says.
“the Most appropriate response at this point would be to give the oil to dissolve in the sea naturally, however, the company is prepared for unforeseen circumstances,” said BP.
the company noted that the latest reconnaissance flight indicates a serious dissolution of the stain. The Clair platform is located 75 kilometres West of Shetland Islands
