Ukraine intends to sue Russia’s third suit in the world trade organization (WTO), which will be linked to the import restrictions of the Russian Federation of certain types of Ukrainian food products. As reported by ZN.ua stated trade representative of Ukraine, Deputy Minister of economy of Ukraine Natalia Mykolskiy.
According to her, the claim will not be associated with the so-called food embargo imposed by Russia in relation to Ukrainian products. “The third claim that we prepare are concerned with restrictions of import into the Russian Federation of certain food products originating from Ukraine. When we talk about restrictions, we mean restrictions Gospodarstwach of the Russian Federation, or their phytosanitary and veterinary services, which relate either to the quality of our products or packaging, or its conformity to other norms of the legislation”, — said the trade representative.
Gaina reminded that Ukraine has already filed a WTO requests for restrictions on Ukrainian cars, as well as on restrictions of transit through the territory of the Russian Federation. At last the representatives of Kiev and Moscow scheduled consultation. It is expected that they will be held on November 10.
15 Sep Ukraine in the framework of its participation in the WTO has started the procedure to challenge the decision of the RF government on introduction of embargo on the transit of Ukrainian goods through Russian territory towards third countries. Its position Ukraine has already been presented to the WTO General Council on 24 February and 27 July of the current year, as well as at meetings of the relevant committees of the WTO. The arguments of the Ukrainian side was supported by the delegations of Canada, USA, EU, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, Korea and Turkey.
Mutual trade restrictions between Ukraine and Russia were introduced in January of this year, due to the fact that Ukraine and the EU entered into force the free trade regime. Winter was considerably restricted the export of Ukrainian goods to Russia, and then it imposed a full embargo on food exports from Ukraine to Russia.
