The Ministry of transport has no plans to expand the scope of “Plato” – Вести.Ru

Actions aimed at the introduction of charging vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes on the Federal, regional and municipal roads, Ministry of transport of Russia has not taken, reports TASS.

However, in a Wednesday newspaper Vedomosti, citing Federal officials, reported that the Ministry of transport is considering introducing by the system operator “Plato” of tolls on Federal highways with vehicles weighing from 3.5 to 12 tons.

According to the newspaper, on the procurement website published a similar contract called “the Scientific substantiation of expediency of introduction in Russia of a system of toll-road shared use of vehicles with a permissible maximum weight from 3.5 to 12 tonnes in order a phased transition to the principle of “user pays”.

thus in the message of Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation noted that scientific-research work (SRW) is aimed only at identifying the feasibility of such actions. The performance of such work is a worldwide practice that is being implemented in many developed countries. It is necessary to await the outcome of the research, and while talking about the fact that a fee will be introduced, and even more so on any terms is impossible, since the result may be, in particular, identify inappropriate and premature for such decisions.

As you know, the “Plato” is valid from 15 November 2015. It was supposed to raise the tariff for journey of trucks from 1 March 2016 to 3.06 rubles per 1 km, but later it was decided to postpone the tariff increase, keeping it at 1.53 rubles.
