Deflation in Russia during the week from 2 to 8 August was 0.1%, it follows from the data of Rosstat. Therefore, deflation is observed the second consecutive week.
Most of all fallen prices of vegetables (3.5%). In particular, 10.7% cheaper tomatoes, 8.2% – cucumbers. In 4,1-4,9% cheaper potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Fish, eggs, rice, pasta and noodles have become worth less by 0.1-0.3%. At the same time significantly increased the prices of sugar (0.6%), caramel, buckwheat and chicken (0.2-0.4%). Motor gasoline and diesel fuel went up by 0,1%.
Deflation last week was recorded in Russia for the first time since September 2011. This helped the fall in prices of some food products, especially fruits and vegetables.
The return of the seasonal deflation in the summer of 2015 predicted Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, but then it did not happen. In Russia, only food deflation was recorded at that time, prices fell for fruits, vegetables and other foods, but in general prices for July-September 2015 increased by approximately 1.72%.
