Harris: anti-Russian sanctions are not touched by the purchase of Schlumberger share EDC – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, January 21 – RIA Novosti. The sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia, will not affect the purchase of the US share of Schlumberger Russian drilling company Eurasia Drilling Company (EDC), said Sputnik Corporate Communications Manager at Schlumberger North America Steven Harris.

On Tuesday, the world’s largest service company in the field of oil and gas production – Schlumberger – has reached an agreement to acquire 45.6% stake in Russia’s largest drilling company Eurasia Drilling Company for approximately $ 1.7 billion.

“We have carefully reviewed the sanctions (against Russia), which act at the moment, we do not think that the agreement would be contrary to the current sanctions regime,” – said Harris.

Earlier, Alfa Bank analyst Alexander Kornilov RIA Novosti said that from a formal point of view, this transaction does not violate the sanctions lists items, because in fact there are no restrictions on the purchase of assets in Russia from foreign oil service companies.
