the U.S. dollar during trading on the Moscow stock exchange on 5 January fell below 60 rubles for the first time since the end of July 2015, reports the Interfax.

14:15 Moscow time the dollar fell to the level of 59,97 rubles per dollar (-49 cents to the previous closing), and by 14:55 the dollar cost of 59.45 ruble. At the same time, the Euro fell to 62,91 ruble per Euro (-45,75 penny), and the value of the currency basket fell by 47.5 per penny against the Wednesday’s closing level and amounted to 61,29 ruble.

Like Republic, the dollar is weakening against the ruble since the beginning of this year. So, 3 January, the first in 2017 trading, the value of American currency fell below 61 of the ruble, the next day the dollar fell to 60,59 rubles, and at the beginning of trading on January 5 – to 60.02 of the ruble.

Main factor contributing to the strengthening of the ruble, a rise in oil prices. 3 Jan quotation Brent for the first year topped $ 58 per barrel, and January 5, shifted back to growth after the decline recorded 4 Jan. By 14:30 Moscow time North sea oil was trading at the level of 56.8 per barrel.
