In September 2016, the Deputy chief of Department of perspective development of the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing enterprise “Antonov” Andrey haustov has declared that it will not be released this year, any new aircraft due to the rupture of relations with Russia.

According to him, to produce a plane, you need to replace all Russian components. Khaustov said that they can be both Ukrainian and other countries. For example, on the aircraft An-148 and An-158 need to replace about 5,400 types of components, first of all it concerns the details of the avionics.

According to him, in 2015 the company produced two aircraft an-148 and An-158 with Russian components. “It’s actually the stock that we had, on these aircraft it is over,” he said then. Haustov also acknowledged that “a lack of cooperation with Russia on Antonov aircraft “does not make life easier for enterprises.” However, he expressed hope that next year, “Antonov” will start serial production of the an-148 and An-158.

In may 2015, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced that the government of Ukraine decided to terminate the agreement on military-technical cooperation with Russia. The agreement was signed on 26 may 1993. This was done, in particular, to develop cooperative relationships in the development and manufacture of military products. The document also implied mutual deliveries of military goods and rendering of services of military purpose.

a Member of the public Council under the Ministry of defense Igor Korotchenko said RBC that the statement of Yatsenyuk made a few months later, after the defense Ministry announced the completion of all programs of military-technical cooperation with Ukrainian companies.

Among the largest Ukrainian enterprises, which worked in cooperation with the Russian factories in the military-technical sphere, there was the Nikolaev shipbuilding plant, the Dnipropetrovsk plant Yuzhmash, which supplied spare parts for Russian strategic missiles, and carried out their maintenance, and also the Zaporozhye plant “Motor Sich” supplies engines for Russian helicopters.
