GORKI, January 24. /TASS/. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has linked the growth of imports of goods from Armenia to Russia with the accession of the Republic to the Eurasian economic Union. He stated this during talks with his Armenian counterpart Karen Karapetyan.
“Despite the current international environment, changes in energy prices and some other economic aspects, however, the turnover we have a stable and if we talk about the imports from Armenia, over the past year, we have seen a growth of 70%. This, in my opinion, the result of the accession of Armenia to the Eurasian Union and the strengthening of our economic ties,” Medvedev said. He added that the visit Karapetyan prepared a package of documents, “which develops the vector of our cooperation.” “I hope it will contribute to the development of economic ties and ease of human communication”, – said Medvedev.
In turn, Karapetyan thanked Mr Putin for the invitation and hospitality extended to the Armenian delegation. The head of the Armenian government congratulated the Russian colleague on his re-election Chairman of the party “United Russia”.
According to Karapetyan, the Prime Ministers of the two countries is a good opportunity to compare notes on Armenian-Russian cooperation and to discuss topical areas. “I want to assure you that our delegation is very positive and business attitude. Traditionally, the agenda of Armenian-Russian relations are very intense,” said Karapetyan. He noted that Russian capital in the Armenian economy are well represented, but cannot be complacent. Karapetyan said that the Armenian delegation during the talks, expects to introduce a number of new proposals that will help diversify and expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries.
Armenia has joined the Eurasian economic Union in 2015.
Moscow and Yerevan signed a number of documents on cooperation in the sphere of economy and interregional interaction. In particular, an agreement was signed amending the agreement on mutual visa-free trips of citizens of two countries, dated 25 September 2000. During the ceremony, the relevant notes had been exchanged between Deputy Ministers of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Armenia.
in addition, the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia and Ministry of economic development and investments of Armenia signed a Memorandum on cooperation. The document was signed by the heads of departments of Denis Manturov and Suren Karayan.
Also signed the program of interregional cooperation in the years 2016-2021. Signatures under the document have put the Minister of economic development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin and the Minister of economic development and investments of Armenia Suren Karayan.
