Tournament for the Russian Paralympics will be held in Moscow – Sight

Tournament for not admitted to the Games in Rio de Janeiro Russian Paralympians take place on 7 September at the sports facilities of the Moscow region, said the president of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RCC), Vladimir Lukin.

“The tournament will take place on September 7 at the central sports grounds Moscow: Round lake, Novogorske, other training centers”, – said Lukin, reports TASS.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin said that Russia will organize special events for Paralympic athletes due to their non-admission to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In turn, the Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko also said that Russia consider the possibility of organizing alternative events for Paralympic athletes.

Last Friday, the Secretary General of RCC Mikhail Terentyev said that the Russian Paralympic Committee sued the Swiss appeal against the verdict of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) to uphold the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on the non-admission of Russian athletes to participate in the Paralympic Games 2016.

On August 25, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the removal of the Russian Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is a flagrant violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

August 23 Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the claim of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RCC), the Russian athletes do not perform at the Paralympics – 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. Chapter IPC Philip Craven expressed his satisfaction with the decision of the CAS by the Russian Paralympians.

President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Philip Craven said that “as long as does not change the whole system,” Russia can not be included in the number of competitors under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), even “clean” athletes.

IPC also did not rule out revising the results of the Paralympic Games – 2014 in Sochi.

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said that the IPC unprecedented decision – it is not clear on what it is based.

2016 Paralympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro from 7 to 18 September.
