Russia has lifted a ban on imports of vegetables and fruits from Egypt – RBC

After negotiations, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert and the delegation of the Arab Republic of Egypt made the decision to resume imports of Egyptian agricultural products to Russia. This is stated in the message on the Agency’s website.

“At the end of the meeting the parties came to an agreement for the resumption of supply of plant products from Egypt to Russia, with the exception of potatoes, subject to the Egyptian side of all requirements of the Russian Federation to ensure that phytosanitary clean parties”, — stated in the message Department.

As reported by the official representative of Department Julia Melano, during today’s meeting the representatives of the Egyptian delegation presented the measures to be taken to ensure security of supply of products from Egypt. “Russia resumes imports of all fruits and vegetables from Egypt, with the exception of potatoes,” — said in a few words. According to her, the issue of resumption of the supply of this vegetable will be dealt with separately, during the visit of the Rosselkhoznadzor specialists in Egypt. The visit is tentatively scheduled in October-November this year, added a few words.

in addition, the negotiators agreed that a Russian delegation of experts will visit Egypt in October-November 2016 to assess the effectiveness of the measures taken in compliance with the Russian phytosanitary requirements in the supply of Egyptian potatoes.
