Euro depreciates against the dollar on uncertainty in Greece – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, July 1 – RIA Novosti / Prime. The euro exchange rate against the dollar declines on Wednesday after Greece has not transferred entitlements IMF loan in the amount of about 1.5 billion euros, according to data trading.

As of 08.10 MSK euro against the dollar decreased to 1.1140 dollars per euro from 1.1141 dollars at the previous close. The dollar rose against the yen to 122.53 yen from 122.49 yen per dollar. The dollar index (the dollar to a basket of six currencies of countries – major trade partners of the United States) grew by 0.04% – up 95.55 points.

After Greece has not transferred the fund necessary payment, the international rating agency Fitch downgraded Greece’s credit rating to the level of the SS (“high probability of default”). Fifth of July in Greece held a referendum on the agreement with international lenders.

“By the end of the month, we have seen sales and purchases of euro dollar”, – said the head of department of currency operations Chapdelaine & amp; Co. Douglas Borthwick (Douglas Borthwick), as quoted by Reuters.

Despite the fact that in the last days of the euro depreciates against the dollar, the European currency over the past quarter, the dollar has risen 3.9%. This is the first quarterly rise in the euro against the dollar over the past five quarters. It is also the strongest since the third quarter of 2013. In June, the euro also showed the first monthly increase in the dollar over the past two months: an increase of 1,4%.
