Ministry of Finance: a reserve fund will be opened, if the oil price collapse – BBC Russian

According to Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, the task before the agency “does not print the” Reserve Fund except in the case of a serious decline in oil prices.

Earlier, Deputy Finance Minister Tatyana Nesterenko said that the authorities began to discuss the question of the performance of the Reserve Fund, instead of raising taxes. Ministry strongly opposes: given the problems with filling the fund, this resource will not last long.

“Our goal is that if major fluctuations in oil prices will not be, not to climb [the Reserve Fund]” – Siluanov said at a press conference.

According to him, the reasons to take money from the reserves, will appear in the event that the price of oil falls to 80 or 90 dollars per barrel.

According to RIA Novosti, on September 1, 2014 the volume of Russian Reserve Fund amounted to 91.72 billion dollars.
