It should be noted that the consumption of meat per capita per year is still quite high. In 2013, it amounted to 75 kilograms, and even if consumption drops to 70 kg per person per year, it would still be almost two times more than in 1998.

Yushin said that in the richest countries each inhabitant consumes an average of 82-83 kg of meat per year. «In Russia, about 20 million people live below the poverty line, so the consumption per capita of more than 70 kilograms – a very good indicator» .

«Russia entered the top five world leaders in production of poultry meat. With regard to pork, the industrial pig farming has increased from less than 500 thousand tons to 2 million tons, and the total production volume exceeded 3 million tons last year. That is, Russia, and here comes the first 6-7 of the world’s pork producers », – he added the head of the National Meat Association, in an interview to RSN.
