Greek authorities announced the closure of banks until July 6 – Kommersant

Bank of Greece will suspend work for a week until July 6, according to Reuters, citing a source in the government. At the same time, will act restrictions on cash withdrawals from ATMs at up to € 60 a day. According to the source, ATMs will start working in the afternoon on Monday. It is also noted that during this period the country will operate online transactions, however, the transfer of money abroad will be banned. These measures are designed to protect the financial system of Greece and its economy, the source said.

As previously reported by “Kommersant”, Greece imposes restrictions on withdrawals from bank accounts. The measure is forced, the outflow of funds from banks for the weekend exceeded € 1,3 Bln. Negotiations with the European creditors and the de facto frozen until July 5, when appointed to a national referendum on the agreement. The negative outcome of the vote cast doubt on Greece’s membership in the euro area. Unresolved is the question of payment of the IMF loan in the amount of € 1,6 млрд.
