Detained second assailant on hotels in Tunisia – RBC

The second assailant at the resort in Sousse arrested by the police, television channel Al Arabiya. According to the channel, he was arrested when he tried to escape from the scene.

Authorities qualified the incident as a terrorist attack in Tunisia. According to the latest reports, the victims of the tragedy became 28 people, the local radio station Mosaique. Another 36 people were injured.

Daily Mirror, with reference to the Ministry of Health of Tunisia reported that among the dead were citizens of Great Britain and Belgium, as well as German nationals. According to the Irish Times, one of the 28 victims was a citizen of Ireland.

The Minister of Defence of Tunisia Rafik Celli told Mosaique, it has become known the nationality of one of the assailants – he is a citizen of Tunisia. According to the ministry, he was a student.

Resting in Sousse Briton Anthony introduced himself, told the BBC the BBC that when he heard the sound of explosions, he thought it was fireworks. “Among the guests was a lot of panic, people were running in the lobby of the hotel, and many went into the building,” – he said. He cited the words of another guest of the hotel, according to which “one or two people sailed to the beach by boat” and fired at the tourists.

On Friday, two unidentified men attacked the tourists on the beach in Sousse, located in the north east of Tunisia. The affected area was the territory of two hotels – Riu Imperial Marhaba and El Mouradi Palm Marina.

The Russian consulate in Tunis told RBC that during the incident really affected Russian-speaking tourist, however, according to unofficial information, it is the citizen of Ukraine . At that time, the official data on this matter interlocutor RBC did not have.

Later, the press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Irina Turina has denied the information about the injured Russian woman. “We have informed the partners that have received information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Consulate of Tunisia, neither among the dead nor the Russians among the victims there.
