According to the Prime Minister, in Ukraine there are no more intermediary companies and oligarchs who receive funds through corruption in the energy sector
Ukraine has succeeded in overcoming corruption in the energy sector. Such a hypothesis suggested Prime Minister Yatsenyuk at a press conference in Berlin after a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“Ukraine has succeeded in overcoming corruption in the energy sector. We have no more intermediary companies no more billions of dollars into the pockets of the Ukrainian oligarchs “- said the Prime Minister.
“Today Ukraine on transparent and European conditions buys gas on open contracts for German and European companies. We have replaced natural gas, which we bought in Russia for natural gas, which we now obtain in countries EU Member States, including from Germany, “- said Yatsenyuk.
He said that Ukraine has taken important decisions on the reform of the energy sector. In particular, a law by which Western companies have the right to invest in the Ukrainian gas transportation system and buy up to 49% of the GTS.
“We would like to see our Western partners, primarily Germany, took part in investing in modernization and joint operation of the largest gas transmission system in Europe – Ukrainian gas transportation system,” – said the Prime Minister.
Earlier, the US billionaire philanthropist George Soros said that Naftogaz of Ukraine is the main corrupt hole in the Ukrainian budget. According to him, the reorganization of Naftogaz will allow to overcome the energy dependence on Russia.
