Medvedev urged to avoid undue rise in food prices – Russian newspaper

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to take the necessary measures to prevent unjustified rise in food prices.

– In recent years, because of the situation on the ruble, due to a number of other reasons we have played out quite serious food inflation – said the head of government in a meeting with Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov. – Everything must be done together with the owners of chain stores, with farmers, together with intermediaries who take part in these chains to prevent unjustified price increases.

Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the regional authorities and when required, with law enforcement agencies tasked to monitor the situation in the food market.

Speaking about the development of agriculture in the current economic situation, Dmitry Medvedev expressed the hope that the funding of the village will remain at the proper level. “I hope we will all be able in 2015 to finance the necessary extent. We will try to do everything to defend these positions,” – said the prime minister.
