Imports to Russia fell by 15 per cent – Lenta.ru

Imports of goods and services in Russia from foreign countries in August fell by 15.6 percent to 20.47 billion dollars. This was reported in the media FCS. Imports of food products in many respects has fallen by 50-70 per cent.

In particular, imports of milk in Russia fell by more than half (56 percent). Imports of vegetable production has fallen by 73 per cent, fruits – by 32 per cent, and meat and offal – 17 percent (especially the decrease in the volume of import of pork and poultry).

Import engineering products decreased by 19.7 percent, chemical production – by 12.2 percent, and textiles and footwear – by 3.3 percent. Of textile products declined significantly cotton imports – by 27.4 percent.

Regarding the August 2013 general decline in imports was 11.4 per cent. Volume of import of food products to the same month last year declined by only 7.5 percent.

In general, imports to Russia in January-August 2014 decreased by 4.4 percent compared to the same period of 2013 , amounting to 170.2 billion dollars.
