Ministry of Communications expects rising prices for prints up to 50% – of Polit.ru

As a result of the weakening of the ruble value of newspapers and magazines in the country in 2015 could grow by 30-50%, according to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” referring to the deputy the head of the Ministry of Communications Alexei Volin.

As explained in an interview with the deputy minister, ruble exchange rate fluctuations will lead to an increase in the cost of printing components, such as ink and plates, as well as components for washing machines, which are paid in foreign currency. In addition, the market will negatively affect the decline in advertising.

Alexei Volin said that if you do not take steps to support the press, the forecasts for 2015 for the industry will be even more disappointing. At the same time, the situation with the glossy magazines will be much more difficult than with newspapers.

As possible support measures Alexei Volin called allocation of state subsidies editions, as well as the liberalization of the advertising market. In particular, according to the deputy minister, you can allow alcohol and tobacco advertising in print media. Otherwise, in 2015, tens of thousands of journalists may be left without work.
