About 25% of Russian cars in 2018 will remain on the secondary market – BBC

The sales of domestic cars in 2018 will be about a quarter of the total number of cars sold in the secondary market. This forecast was made by specialists of the agency «Autostat» on the basis of the history of the sales (in 2009 the share of sales of domestic cars was more than 50%, in 2012 – 40%, and in 2014 is expected to reach 35%) .

The agency’s analysts, track emerging trends, built two scenarios of further development of the market of used cars in Russia.

In the case of a pessimistic forecast deteriorating economic situation in the country against the backdrop of geopolitical events have a negative impact on the financial opportunities for potential buyers, and they will postpone major purchases (including cars) for an indefinite period.

According to the optimistic scenario, in 2014 the secondary car market Russia will cross the mark of 6 million units and will show an increase of 9%. Subsequently, the pace of growth will slow down, but it did not prevent him in 2017 to reach the milestone of 6.7 million vehicles sold.
