Due to bad weather conditions in Turkey, rising prices for hazelnuts, reports Agence France-Presse .
Half of Turkish exports of nuts go to Germany and Italy, where there is a giant Ferrero , which owns Nutella, Kinder and Ferrero Rocher.
Ferrero is the world’s largest buyer of hazelnuts.
Production of hazelnuts in Turkey, as a rule, is about 590 thousand. tons per year – three a quarter of global consumption.
But this year because of cold weather is forecast to decrease production to 370 thousand. tons.
The Fall of supply has led to a spike in wholesale prices, which have risen by almost 80 %.
