The Swiss authorities will hold a vote on the monthly payments to citizens in the amount of 2500 Swiss francs, which is about 2,500 euros.
According to The Independent, if the proposal is approved, Switzerland will become the first country in the world that will provide their citizens the unconditional monthly income. In addition, it is proposed to allocate to each child per month for 625 francs.
According to a study by Demoscope, most Swiss are planning to continue the work, and will look for a job, even in the case of adoption of such a law. Only 2% of people said that they could stop working. At the same time 56% of respondents believe that the proposal will not be accepted.
In the case of the adoption of such a law, it will cost the government 208 billion Swiss francs a year, of which 150 billion is necessary to state revenues from taxes and 55 billion will be collected from the social insurance fund.
