MOSCOW, June 11 – RIA Novosti / Prime. Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak hopes that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will soon supporter than an opponent of Russia in the issue of debt repayment in Ukraine.
“We expect that the IMF will be more supporters than the enemy Russia in the issue of debt repayment Ukraine”, – said Storchak, in an interview, “Russia-1″, when asked about the prospects for the negotiations with Ukraine on repayment of the debt to the Russian Federation $ 3 billion.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the best forum for such negotiations is precisely the IMF.
Earlier, RIA Novosti experts explained that in the case of Ukraine’s debt to Russia it is a sovereign, instead of commercial debt. Defaulting on it will stop the IMF program of financial assistance to Ukraine.
