Yevgeny Primakov began his career as an orientalist-Arabist – in 1953 graduated from the Arabic Department of the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies in 1956 – graduate of economic faculty of Moscow State University, in 1959 he defended his thesis “The export of capital in some Arab countries – a means of ensuring a monopoly high profits. ” Since 1956, he worked in the USSR Radio and Television, having risen from reporter to editor in chief of broadcasting in the Arab countries. In the years 1962-1970 covered the events in Asia, Africa and the Middle East in the newspaper “Pravda”, during which he met with Saddam Hussein, Tariq Aziz and other Middle East leaders.
