Canada expanded sanctions list against Russia – RBC

The Government of Canada has expanded sanctions list against Russia, to include the three Russian citizens and 14 entities. This is stated in a press release posted on the website of the government of the country.

Of the individuals on the sanctions list includes leaders of the Eurasian Youth Union – Alexander Dugin, Paul and Andrei Kovalenko Kanischev – and the union itself as a legal entity. Four major Russian oil and gas companies also came under limitations: “Gazprom”, “Gazprom Neft”, “Surgutneftegaz” and “Transneft».

In addition, the Government of Canada has made to the list of fund Marshall Capital Fund, motor club “Night Wolves “Tula Arms Plant, United Aircraft Corporation” Oboronprom “and several companies.

In a statement issued on the occasion, Prime Minister Stephen Harper explained the motives of the expansion of sanctions. “Until the real world, as long as the occupation forces are withdrawn, and as long as the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine will not be restored, the regime of President Putin should feel permanent consequences,” – said in a statement.

«Our government is therefore announcing additional sanctions and travel bans against the Russian people, as well as economic sanctions against Russian companies, as well as a ban on the export and import of the Crimea”, – said the prime minister.

In 2014 ten times, Canada announced new sanctions against Russia or expanding blacklist. In 2015, to June expanded the list only once – in February. The US authorities have explained that the fund Marshall Capital Partners on the list because of its control of Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev, who is accused of sponsored “separatist activities” in the east of Ukraine and in close ties with the former leaders of the breakaway DNI Igor Strelkov (Girkin) and Alexander Boroday.

The club “Night Wolves”, felt in Washington, closely connected with the Russian special services and was part of the Self-Defense Forces of Crimea in February 2014.
