Head of the Russian Energy Ministry told reporters that Ukraine will have to specify the volumes of gas purchases and injection into underground gas storage facilities in the document for the third quarter, which must be signed on the results of the tripartite negotiations on gas. According to the minister, tripartite negotiations on gas with Russia, Ukraine and the European Union will be held after June 20.
Novak also stressed that Russia continues to call on the EU to provide financial guarantees to Ukraine to pay for gas purchases, TASS.
Alexander Novak , Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation: “We would like to see in this document are the obligations of Ukraine to purchase gas for injection into underground storage, the volume and obligations of the European side, which would have taken the questions of financial assistance. Because you know that there is a problem with having the money to pay for gas, for gas injection into underground storage facilities. That these things are being discussed ».
The Minister also stressed that Russia would not sign the document on the basis of the tripartite ministerial talks on gas in late June, when there will be no clear-cut commitments of the EU and Ukraine.
Alexander Novak : «Everything will depend on what is in this document. Above that is working. If there are substantial some things that should be fixed, we are ready to sign. And if there will again be only liability on our part as it was in the second quarter, it makes no sense to sign, all the decisions we are taking ».
Recall winter package deliveries of Russian gas to Ukraine was adopted at the talks in October 2014 and ceased to have effect on April 1. Nevertheless, the Russian Federation extended the winter package for the second quarter of 2015, again to give Ukraine a discount on gas at $ 100 for 1 thousand cubic meters.
Recently, Ukraine’s debt to “Gazprom” has exceeded 29 billion dollars. In this regard, “Gazprom” has prepared another lawsuit to the Stockholm arbitration “Naftogaz Ukraine” for the breach of the contract by the end of 2014. Currently, the Stockholm arbitration has filed several counterclaims to each other by “Gazprom” and “Naftogaz”.
