The Moscow City Court refused to release Mason from house arrest – RBC

The court of cassation Moscow City Court refused to release the co-owner of Domodedovo airport businessman Dmitry Mason from house arrest. This was to “Interfax” reported the spokesperson of the Moscow City Court Juliana Solopova.

According to her, the judgments were recognized as legitimate, and the appeal shall not be transferred for consideration to the court hearing the Moscow City Court Presidium. Solopova added that similar decisions handed down on the appeal of lawyers of other defendants in the case.

She noted that the appeal from the General Prosecutor’s Office, received in April, is considered not to have been.

The criminal case article 238 of the Criminal Code (the execution of works or services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons) was instituted against Mason in April 2015. According to investigators, in 2010, Domodedovo managers simplified citizens’ security procedures at the airport that the January 24, 2011 allowed the terrorist to detonate a bomb in the airport. The attack killed 37 people.

In February 2016 the court ordered the preventive measure for all four defendants in a criminal case. At the same time Attorney General’s office has repeatedly stated that he sees no causal link between the actions of management and top managers of the airport and the loss of lives in the terrorist attack. March 24 Prosecutor General’s Office threatened to seek legal action if the Investigation Committee will not stop criminal proceedings against Mason.

April 14, 2016 Basmanny Court extended the term of the mason house arrest until July. The judge refused to release the businessman on bail of 50 mln. Rub.
