Lavrov will meet with the foreign ministers of the countries of “Norman Quartet” – RBC

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov will take part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers’ Norman Four “countries. This was reported by “RIA Novosti” spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

She said that the meeting will be held May 11 in Berlin. Lavrov addition, there will be attended by German Foreign Minister Frank Steinmeier, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

The previous meeting of foreign ministers of the countries of “Norman Quartet” on 3 March. The Ministers discussed the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but could not agree on the conduct of elections in some areas of the Donbas. Lavrov then explained that Moscow was ready to support the proposal by Germany and France to hold the elections in the Donbass in the first half of the year, however, Ukraine has asked not to insist on this.

Klimkin noted that the organization of elections in the Donbass have to ensure the safety of . He also added that for this purpose the OSCE control of the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The first meeting of foreign ministers of the countries of “Norman Quartet” was held in June 2014 in France. Then the ministers discussed the consequences of the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine and the impact of the crisis on the economy.
