Minister of Agriculture of Russia Alexander Tkachev announced plans to increase in the coming years the grain harvest in Russia to 110-120 million tons per year, reports TASS reported citing the Ministry of Agriculture. The corresponding statement he made at the first staff meeting in the ministry.

«The consumption of grain will grow at the expense of domestic consumption and exports,” – said Mr. Tkachev. In 2014, Russia had collected 105.3 million tons of grain. In 2015 grain harvest may reach up to 100 million tons, the agency predicts.

Alexander Tkachev also set a target to reduce the payback period of greenhouses in Russia up to 8-9 years. “In this direction, we need to return the previously lost ground. Need a breakthrough to further grow at least 2 million tons of vegetables a year, “- explained his position minister.

The Minister also stressed the need to expedite the provision of state support to agricultural producers. “Next year we should be ready at an earlier date to begin the implementation of all existing forms and mechanisms of state support for the industry, in February to transfer money to farmers,” – he said.
