On January 1, 2016 Russia will operate a new level of the minimum wage in the amount of 6675 rubles. In addition, the Government intends later this year to increase the rate to 7142 rubles per month, and in 2018 the minimum wage will amount to 7606 rubles per month. These figures are given in an official document, posted on the federal portal of the draft legal acts.
Currently, the minimum wage is 5965 rubles. It should be noted that these minimum wages are reviewed annually by the Government in the preparation of next year’s budget. Such changes are needed for the correct calculation of wages to employees of various companies, determining the size of benefits for temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth, as well as for other purposes of compulsory social insurance. The next year will increase about 12%, but some time ago in the Ministry of Labour have been proposals to establish in 2016 the minimum wage at the level of 7189 rubles per month, thereby increasing it to 20.7 per cent compared with this year.
By the way, not to be confused with the established minimum wage a living wage, which, for example, in the Nizhny Novgorod region on the 1st quarter of 2015 amounted to 9,100 rubles per capita. For the working population living wage was 9765 rubles, for pensioners – 7496 rubles for children – 9314 rubles. And these figures for each region are set individually and reviewed on a quarterly basis.
