The situation of the girl-invalid in Nizhny Novgorod cafe gives me a feeling of bitterness and regret” – she wrote Thursday in his blog on the website of the Federation Council.
Tuesday between the owner of one of the cafes in Nizhny Novgorod and the mother of Natalia Vodianova conflict occurred after the man asked to leave the institution Vodianova Oksana sister with autism. At this point, investigators sued the humiliation of human dignity.
The speaker of the Federation Council noted that in recent years Russia has done much for the full integration into society of persons with disabilities, special needs. In particular, a number of legislative measures to ratify the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, implemented measures for inclusive education, the program “Accessible Environment”. At the same time, he stressed Matvienko, and laws and numerous large and small projects – the installation of ramps, the use of special characters, and other devices that help to use the urban infrastructure – this is only part of the complex of necessary measures.
“We are all important to understand, that psychological and moral readiness of society to accept people with disabilities, to communicate with them on equal terms, without stereotyping – that’s the main indicator of the moral health of society, the level of its development. Unfortunately, what happened in Nizhny Novgorod indicates a lack of some people of good relations and the need for responsible “- she admitted.According to Matvienko, to prevent such a situation will help the appropriate training, conducting outreach, follow the laws in force. “Attitudes towards disabled people and people with disabilities will not only help to correct social injustice against them, but the positive impact on society as a whole”, – wrote the speaker of the Federation Council in the blog.
