Vladimir Yakunin, dismissed the president of “Russian Railways” in connection with his transfer to another job. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, according to the government website.
The new head of the state corporation today was appointed deputy head of the Ministry of Transport, Oleg Belozerov. Vladimir Yakunin will give him the powers already August 21.
August 17 it became known that the acting head of the region, the candidate of the “United Russia” Nikolay Tsukanov nominated Yakunin for senator from the Kaliningrad region. It has been reported that he has the right to claim a seat in the Federation Council, as it has diplomatic status.
On the same day the head of Railways confirmed that he intends to leave the company. August 18 he was registered as a candidate for senator.
