Microsoft used the game “Solitaire” and “Minesweeper” for learning opportunities interface – Kommersant

Built-in operating systems Windows game “Solitaire,” “FreeCell” and “Minesweeper” were not created for entertainment, according to the magazine Mental Floss. According to the newspaper, the real problem is the oldest of them – “Solitaire” – was to teach members to deal with a computer mouse. It was assumed that this game will grow a whole generation of PC users who are accustomed to a text command line interface.

The game “Minesweeper” was to teach the computer owners fast and accurate use of the left and right buttons mouse, “worms” – move the icons. “Freecell”, in turn, served as a hidden test the operating system.
