The flow of tourists from Russia to Europe fell by 30% – Torontovka.com

Outbound tourism from Russia to Europe in the I quarter of 2015 fell by 30% compared to the same period in 2014. On this, as reported by Tass, said the European Commission on Tourism.

Most of the directions of outbound tourism from Russia to Europe showed a significant drop in terms of arrivals and stay overnight at the beginning of 2015 in connection with the uncertain geopolitical and economic situation, the report said. “Only two lines of outbound tourism from Russia have increased over this period – Montenegro and Romania,” – said in a statement.

“The coming months will show as much as possible to neutralize the fall of the Russian outbound tourism, which is the average in early 2015 declined by about 30% compared to the total level of the same period in 2014, “- said in a statement.

It should be noted, the overall decline in demand for tours to Asian countries, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the first three months of the year amounted to 40-50%.

Experts attribute the decline in the number of tourists to the increase in transportation costs, which often account for half of the cost of the tour. The prices in the Asian countries are “democratic”, and many hotels even give some preference to Russian tourists.

Against the background of more expensive trips abroad, the Russians began to quickly readjust to domestic tourism.
