“Naftogaz” has increased the claim to “Gazprom” in Stockholm to $ 16 billion – RBC

«Naftogaz of Ukraine” has increased the amount of claims to “Gazprom” to $ 16 billion. The new claim under the contract for gas transit on April 30 were filed in the Arbitration Court in Stockholm, said in a press release of the Ukrainian company, received by RBC.

«Cash requirements” Naftogaz “to” Gazprom “in the arbitration on the contract for the transit of gas add up to more than $ 10 billion,” – said in a statement.

In the arbitration claim are already on 2009-2019 years of the contract for the supply of gas for $ 6 billion.

The official representative of “Gazprom” Sergei Kupriyanov said about the increase of the requirements, noting that the amount of claims exceeding the claim of the Russian company “Naftogaz”, reports Tass .

Previously, data on the amount of claims “Naftogaz” of $ 16 billion has led Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Referring to the Ukrainian experts, he explained that the loss of revenue from the transit contract with “Gazprom” was $ 10 billion.

«The transit contract is unfair to the Ukraine, and more than $ 10 billion should be paid to” Naftogaz “by” Gazprom “to compensate losses,” – said Yatsenyuk.

«Naftogaz” has addressed with a claim to “Gazprom” in the Arbitration Court in Stockholm in October last year. Then the company claimed compensation in the amount of $ 3.2 billion for unaccorded transit gas volumes, interest on that amount, as well as to bring certain provisions of the contract between the gas companies into conformity with the energy and antitrust legislation of Ukraine and the European Union.

“Gazprom” demands that “Naftogaz” debt payment for the supply of gas in 2013-2014, totaling $ 2.47 billion. This amount is related to the difference between the price fixed by contract ($ 486.5 per 1 thousand. cube. m), and the amount that paid Kiev ($ 268.5 per 1 thousand. cu. m). Under the terms of the so-called winter package the dispute must also solve the Stockholm arbitration.

At the end of March, “Gazprom” and “Naftogas” agreed to extend to the second quarter reduced the price of supplies. This is a $ 100 rebate when purchasing gas. It was established under the terms of the “winter package”, which was valid until March 31, 2015.

In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with the proposal of “Gazprom” does not impose fines for arrears Kiev gas – such sanctions provided in Rule “take or pay”. This is one of those items of the contract that Ukraine disputes in arbitration.
