MOSCOW, May 15 – RIA Novosti. The Russian government has opposed the introduction of tourist tax, the newspaper “Izvestia” on Friday.
The introduction of such measures would do more to Russian holiday resorts, and this become an obstacle to the development of domestic tourism, the newspaper said, citing a draft conclusion.In addition, according to “Izvestia”, the government is worried that charging systems which require large financial and labor costs than revenues from the collection.
In October last year, several senators had drafted legislation the introduction of tourist tax in Russia, which would be levied on people coming into the tourist area.
At the conclusion of the project the Government says that the proposed tax “does not conform featured collection”: it is impossible to determine the subject of taxation, rates, procedure and deadline payment, write “News”.
“To create an effective system of collection of such charges is necessary to ensure full control of the entry and exit of persons from the territory of the resort all modes of transport, which will require considerable human and financial costs are not commensurate with the proceeds from the collection,” – the newspaper text of the opinion.
In Rospotrebnadzor, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Justice considered undesirable introduction of such a tax.
