In 2017, the food export from Russia may exceed the imports. This is stated in the research of the Russian Academy of national economy and state service under the President of the Russian Federation (Ranepa), which is in the possession “of the Tape.ru”.

But the excess of exports over imports can be achieved only by the growth of the agricultural sector than the global average. In fact, Russia’s share in global food imports exceeds the country’s share in world population and agricultural output. But in the last three years, the share of domestic imports fell sharply due to the devaluation of the ruble and reduction of incomes of the population.

Despite the rapid growth of exports, the share of Russia in the world on this indicator increased from 0.8 percent in 2011 to 1.2 percent in 2015.

Russia has the largest share in the total volume of Belarusian food export — 94.5 per cent for the first 11 months of 2016 delivered products for $ 1.95 billion.

In October 2016, Bloomberg reported that Russia is regaining its status as the world’s largest exporter of grain and the grain becomes a superpower. “Russia has long taken a leading place. Other manufacturers will have to fight for the preservation of its share in the market”, — said the General Director of consulting company Market Check Basnett Tom (Tom Basnett).
