The French authorities released from prison Israeli businessman Arkady Gaydamak, who was sentenced to three years in prison for tax fraud in the transaction for the sale of weapons to Angola.
On the release Gaydamak first reported French press. Lawyer businessman Patrick Klyugman confirmed this information to the correspondent of TASS.
The lawyer said the businessman was released early so that he could work on some kind of “social project, affecting the areas of cooperation between different cultures and religions.”
at the same time before the end of the businessman will wear a special electronic bracelet that allows authorities to track his whereabouts.
The verdict on the case Gaydamak was passed in 2011. The court found him guilty of evading taxes on arms sales and sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of nearly 400 million euros.
The sentence was imposed in absentia, since Gaydamak absconded abroad. However, in 2015 he returned to France, and he surrendered to authorities, saying he wanted to start a new life.
Another judgment related to the same transaction, Gaydamak carried in 2009. The court sentenced him to six years in prison for illegal arms sales, but then decided to cancel because the delivery was carried out by order of the Government of Angola.
