permanent representative of China to the UN Liu Jieyi has urged his British colleague Matthew Rycroft “not poison” the atmosphere of the security Council and not to abuse their comments. Reported by Reuters.

In his speech at the UN security Council Rycroft expressed surprise about the actions of the Chinese side, which vetoed a draft resolution on the humanitarian situation in Aleppo, Syria. According to him, Russia and China “vetoed not because the document had not been adequately discussed, and because of its long and misplaced faith in a tyrant that murdered almost half a million of representatives of his own people”.

Jieyi, in turn, stated the need for further discussion of the document, and asked the British counterpart to stop the “poison” the atmosphere in the security Council.

Previously Russia vetoed a resolution on the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Aleppo.
