Western ambassadors in Kiev expressed disappointment resignation Abromavicius – Sight

«During the past year, Mr. Abromavicius and his professional team have achieved important progress in the implementation of tough but necessary economic reforms to stabilize the Ukrainian economy, root out endemic corruption, to bring Ukraine in line with the requirements of the IMF program and to promote a more open and transparent government “, – says the statement.

«It is important that Ukrainian leaders have dropped their petty differences, all left in the past vested interests that hindered the development of the country for decades, and have stepped up the necessary reforms”, – stressed the ambassadors of nine states.

On Wednesday, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius announced the decision to leave his post because of the impossibility of effective activity.

Commenting care Abromavicius, US Ambassador to Kiev Jeffrey Payette called it “one of the top leaders of the reform in the Ukrainian government.”

For his part, the governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili said he supported Abromavicius and accused Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in blocking reform.

The Lithuanian businessman, co-owner and one of the managers of the Swedish investment company East Capital Aivaras Abromavicius was appointed as the Minister of Economy of Ukraine December 2, 2014, before it received the citizenship of Ukraine.

In this Abromavicius said the automatic loss of citizenship of Lithuania in accordance with the law. However, the Migration Department of Lithuania decided that Abromavicius may be a citizen of Lithuania, although it has a Ukrainian passport.
