Alexeenko did not specify the possible list of products that may fall under the restrictions, noting, however, that it “is possible” can enter Chinese cabbage and grenades, security agency which in the winter of 2016 to make a complaint. “We are talking about any herbal products, which was not included in the sanctions list, if it does not meet our safety standards,” – said Alekseenko.

It happened after Rosselkhoznadzor announced the arrest of 20 tons of pomegranates from Turkey due to fruit fly infestation, and 10.7 tons of pepper. Since this is not the first such case in relation to products from Turkey, Rosselkhoznadzor expressed concern.

From 1 January 2016 Russia banned the import of certain categories of foodstuffs from Turkey. The list includes meat products, vegetables (tomatoes, onions, shallots, cauliflower and broccoli, cucumbers and gherkins), fruits (oranges, tangerines, clementines, vilkingi and similar citrus hybrids, apples, pears, apricots, peaches, nectarines, , plums, sloes) and berries (strawberries, strawberry), as well as salt.
