In Greece, it began a referendum – the first channel

Residents of the country must decide whether to accept the conditions of austerity in exchange for new loans or not. The right to vote is at 9 million people. And at least 40% of them have come to the polls to a referendum was held.

However, experts do not doubt – the turnout will be higher. But the outcome of the vote is difficult to predict – those for and those against, now, according to opinion polls, about equally.

The Greeks vote for three hours – the referendum began at 7 am and interestingly, even before the opening of the door sections together people with completely different ages, and young and old. Judging by the polls, the voting interest of the Greeks enormous – this eighth in the history of the country the referendum should come 80% of voters.

This week Greece taught the world that closely followed the developments in the country, at least two Greek words – “oohs” and “nay” – yes or no – one of the answers and choose today’s referendum. The inhabitants of the country should be defined – they support austerity offered by international lenders, or oppose it. It is unusual to detail – right from the voting ballots Greeks give that same printed program to save Greece, that is a further belt-tightening. It is not known, of course, whether ordinary people to understand everything, and even whipped up at the polling station, but this possibility is available.

“I vote for Tsiparsa, I say no, because I know what rights of Greeks and other Europeans. We just do not have them”, – says Ioannis Nikolaou.

” I vote for. I believe in democracy, a united Europe, I want us all to move forward together, not backed away ago, “- says Nikolaus Papandopolus.

As for the results of voting, they can hardly be predicted – polls Opinion unequivocal answer as the Greeks did not give vote. The voting was about 50 to 50. At the beginning of the week was a significant advantage on the side of the opponents of the deal with the creditors. But while the banks do not work, and people had to stand in long queues at ATMs, of which once a day can be removed only 60 euros, the opinion of the citizens has changed. All this week was campaigning. Members of the ruling party Syriza, led by the prime minister urged people to answer “no”, and the part of politicians, mainly former and involved in the signing of two memorandums with creditors asked to say “yes”, saying that it is about staying in the EU and Greece eurozone.

In the European Union were initially strongly opposed holding the referendum, but the closer was the date of the meeting, the more varied the rhetoric and eventually European politicians such as German Chancellor, have even begun to campaign in general, not its citizens for the continuation of the economy. Prior to the completion of the referendum lenders refused to speak with the Greek government in response to the failures all the proposals, the European Central Bank stopped providing liquidity to Greek banks. Eurogroup did not extend the program to support the country after June 30.

By the end of the voting is still 9:00, the first results of exit polls will know immediately after the polls closed, but preliminary results show promise in 8-9 pm.
