On the eve of the source of “Izvestia”, close to the side of the transaction, reported that the rejection of the construction of the terminal is connected not only with the changed market conditions, but also “all-Russian policy of rotation to the East».
«Sum” planned to build in Rotterdam oil hub for oil transportation from the port of Primorsk and its sale. It was expected that the investment in the construction of the terminal will amount to about $ 1 billion. Deadlines terminal postponed twice – first in 2015-th to 2016-th, and then for a year.
The project was implemented by companies Shtandart TT BV, specially created the “sum” for the construction of the terminal, and the Dutch VTTI since 2011. In February 2014 it was reported that the project could enter “Rosneft”, but in the end it did not happen.
In August 2014, after the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia and a general cooling of relations between Moscow and the West, representatives of the city council Rotterdam proposes to ban the “sum” to build the terminal, but this initiative was not supported by the city authorities.
The main shareholder of “sum” Ziyavudin Magomedov in November 2014 stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that the company is ready to build their own terminal Rotterdam and sees no risk for the project due to the difficult geopolitical situation.
