WASHINGTON, Dec. 12. Scientists have developed a powder that get rid of obesity caused by overeating. This tool quickly gives a feeling of satiety.
The tests showed that obese people eat about one-sixth less than a buffet, when added to food powder. Plus, in their blood were more hormones that suppress hunger.
The experts want to add the powder to smoothies or bread. It consists of propionate (more precisely, of the insulin-propionate ester – IPE), stimulating production in the gastrointestinal tract of specific hormones. These hormones act on the brain and reduce hunger. Propionate alone produced under normal conditions in the body where bacteria are processed fiber, writes Meddaily.
In turn, the ester of inulin-propionate provides a much higher concentration of propionate. And, as proven Imperial College London and the University of Glasgow, the compound may help obese people. Means tested on 20 volunteers. They were given IPE or inulin fiber. In this case, restrictions on food is not entered. As a result, the group treated with IPE, ate 14% less.
The following experiment: a group of 60 volunteers were divided into two subgroups. For 24 weeks, one sub-group adopts IPE (powder), and another – inulin. As a result, only 1 person out of 25 consumed IPE scored more than 3% of body weight. In the second subgroup is what happened to 6 people from 24. Plus, a second subgroup of four gained more than 5% of body weight. In addition, after 24 weeks in the first subgroup had less abdominal fat and fat in the liver.
