Online petition for the abolition of the mandatory installation of the emergency response system ERA-GLONASS in Russia operated machines launched motorist from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The author of the initiative believes that the implementation of the system will increase the cost of machinery, failure of car brands from import in the Russian Federation unpopular models and generally will be ineffective, as ERA-GLONASS will not work everywhere, reports PrimaMedia.

the Motorist recognizes that the system was created with good intentions, but the reality reveals a number of negative consequences from the installation of “ERA-GLONASS”.

“the System simply will not work: Yes, almost 100% of the Federal roads are covered with cellular communication, but accidents happen and where there is no connection; when traveling in a vehicle outside the Russian Federation the system works throughout Europe and the countries of the Customs Union (Belarus and Kazakhstan). ERA-GLONASS will increase the cost of cars: even if certification is offset by the large circulation model of the vehicle (for vehicles collected in the territory of the Russian Federation), the buyer will have to pay for the device itself and its installation”, lists the author of the petition.

in Addition to other consequences of global implementation of the system the author calls the possible failure of car brands from the importation of unpopular models for which the introduction of ERA-GLONASS will not pay off. He proposes to amend the technical Regulations of the Customs Union “On safety of wheeled vehicles” and to cancel the mandatory requirement to install an emergency system on the vehicle. The petition in the future, the author intends to send to the state Duma of the Russian Federation, Federal customs service of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of transport.

Earlier it was reported that the vehicles imported to Russia after 1 January 2017 and not equipped with emergency-response system ERA-GLONASS, will cease to produce PTS.
