The head of “Naftogaz” estimates the cost of Ukraine’s GTS in the $30 billion – TODAY

the Head of Board NAK “Naftogaz Ukraine” Andrew KOBOLEV estimates the cost of the gas transportation system (GTS) of the country of $ 30 billion.

“We estimate it (GTS – Ed.) the figure is close to $ 30 billion,” – he said on air “24 channel” on Tuesday evening.

COBOL recalled that established in the framework of the restructuring of the NAC company PJSC “Main gas pipelines of Ukraine” should earn in the third quarter of 2017, after entry into force of the decision of the Stockholm arbitration on the dispute with Gazprom.

the Head of the NAC also said that if you lose in arbitration to “Gazprom” under the contract of purchase and sale of gas the sum of $ 38 billion, which the Russian company requires the condition of “take or pay”, will be unaffordable for “Naftogaz of Ukraine”. This KOBOLEV recalled that the government of Ukraine is the guarantor of a commercial dispute between NAK and Gazprom, as legal entities.

At the same time, KOBOLEV said that he is optimistic in terms of a decision by the Tribunal in favour of NAC.

Earlier KOBOLEV noted that the cost of Ukraine’s GTS will be reduced to five times in case of full termination of transit of Russian gas to Europe. According to him, the implementation of such a scenario is possible in the case of the construction of the “Nord stream-2″ and two branches of the “Turkish stream”.

As earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at the meeting of 9 November 2016 was decided to create PJSC “Main gas pipelines of Ukraine” in the framework of the separation of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” on activities. In parallel, the Cabinet has amended the timing of the reform of the management system of trunk gas pipelines, because of the lag.

By decision of the government, property used currently “Ukrtransgaz” for transportation of gas must be transferred to a “Trunk pipelines Ukraine” within 30 days from the date of entry into force of the final decision of the Stockholm arbitration in the dispute between “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and Russian “Gazprom”.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, operates a system of trunk pipelines and 12 underground gas storages of the country. Throughput of Ukraine’s GTS at the entrance is 288 billion cubic meters at the exit – 178,5 billion cubic meters, including to Europe 142.5 billion cubic meters, Moldova – 3.5 billion cubic meters.
