Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed on a statement about the beginning of consultations on the issue of joint activities of the two countries in the Kuril Islands. This was announced by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
According to Ushakov, Putin and Abe were engaged in elaboration of a joint document on the business activity in the Kuril Islands, because before the meeting, the experts were unable to produce the text of the statement.
“Experts worked on the text a few weeks, but have been unable to develop a project. The leaders of 40 minutes today was spent trying to agree on a joint text instructions and did it,” said Ushakov “Newspaper.ru”.
the Russian presidential Aide also said that the final statement after the meeting will highlight the areas of cooperation between the two countries as fisheries, medicine, tourism, ecology and several others.
Answering the question of journalists about whether the joint activity is based on Russian legislation, Ushakov said: “of Course, the territory of the Russian Federation”.
Official statement about the results of this meeting will be published on December 16, Ushakov added.
Before the meeting Putin told Japanese media that Russia “has no territorial issues with Japan.” According to the President, that “Japan believes that she has a problem with Russia.”
